how come BT offer great broadband deals for new customers, but dont care about reducing prices for existing?

Cancel your aggreement and then you can get 6 mths at reduced rate.Causes loads of extra work for BT and you get a better deal.Rip off Britain strikes again!!!!!!
It doesnt answer the question why they dont look after their loyal customers without me having to resort to dirty tricks though
a friend of mine has sky broadband and its very quick a lot quicker than bt and telewest i thought. BT wont let me leave them though, unfortunately otherwise i would go sky broadband
I suggested I was considering switching and they offered £5 per month discount to stay with them for another year.
So I did.
Once that's up I'm looking again as I've heard sky can do faster connection speeds around our way even though BT say we can't go any faster..
BT want more customers. dont really care about existing ones.
