Why can’t my phone-line support all the best Broadband deals?

Okay, Sky says i can get it for £10/month but a typed in my phone number and says ‘it’s out of Sky’s area’ but can offer a deal for £17.99? It’s the same with alot of the cheapest broadband deals! Virgin etc! Any idea? Can i do something about this, I’m sure its sumo thing to do with BT crappy old line..!
